Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Hoover Thrower, 87, will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Tim Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega, AL.
Mr. Thrower passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Thrower; second wife, Dorothy Thrower; his parents, Robert and Rosie Thrower; two sons, Vernon and Randy Thrower; three brothers, Robert, Welborn, and John Thrower; and three sisters, Sally Hand, Mae Saltsman, and Hazel Blake. He was a member of the Sylacauga Church of God, where he served as a teacher, trustee, and chaired the services. Mr. Thrower was also a member of the Army National Guard, where he later retired after 30 years of service. He was known for his love of gardening, fishing, singing, baseball, and football. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.
Mr. Thrower is survived by his three sisters, Emma Towns of Alexander City, Lena (James) Partridge of Alexander City, and Bessie (Roscoe) Collins of Sylacauga; three step-children, Mickey Patterson, Sherry Fetner, and Penny McCain; two grandsons, Richard Thrower and Chris Thrower; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Austin McDaniel, Collin McDaniel, Tim McCain, Timmy Wilson, Wade Thrower, and Richard Thrower.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Sylacauga Church of God Adult Sunday School Class.
