Nelle Ruth Bearden Johnston
Sylacauga, AL - Graveside service for Nelle Ruth Bearden Johnston, 78, will be Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga with Rev. Casey Jones and Rev. Tommy Strickland officiating. The family will visit with guests for an hour prior to the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnston died Friday, April 27, 2012 at her residence. She retired from the state department of postsecondary education. She was very active at Five Points Baptist church, was an active member of BPW and volunteered with several organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Bearden, wife Maragret, of Pell City; nephew, James Bearden, wife Jennifer, of Birmingham; great-nephews, David Bearden of New Orleans, LA, Andrew Bearden of Birmingham and Mark Bearden of Birmingham; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Five Points Baptist Church, 267 Odens Mill Rd, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
