Dewey C. Goodwin

Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Dewey C. Goodwin, 74, will be Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Joe Kelley officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.

Mr. Goodwin died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Goodwin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Sylacauga.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy E. Goodwin of Sylacauga; son, Dewey Douglas Goodwin, wife Donna of Homewood, AL; daughters, Lori Darlene Reeves, husband Bo of Sylacauga and Kathy Diane Watson, husband Donnie of Sylacauga; brother, Kenneth Ray Goodwin of Childersburg; grandchildren, Candice Kelley, Dustin Goodwin, Devin Goodwin, Matthew Taft, Danielle Watson and Dailey Watson; great-grandchildren, Cameron Kelley, Caleb Kelley, Isabella Kelley, Whit Goodwin and Colt Goodwin. .

Visitation will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Don Watson, Bo Reeves, Dustin Goodwin, Devin Goodwin, Matthew Taft and Scott Kelley.

Sister Dot,
Virginia and I wanted you to know we are sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure to have worked with Dewey at the paper mill for many years. I never saw him mad, buthe seemed to always be able to smile about life even on his worse days. We realize he has suffered for many months during the last time in his life. But God has taken him home now where there is only joy. May God also bless you as you continue with life.

Dot and Family, I am very sorry to hear about Dewey's death. Both you and Dewey have always been very special to us. May God hold you in His loving arms as you grieve and wipe each tear with His loving hands. Praying for your comfort during the next months.

Dear Dot and family,
Even tho I can't be there in person, my thoughts are with you and all the family. I know that the last several years have been a trial for Dewey and all of you. He is now at rest, free of pain, and I pray that God will grant you all peace and consolation.
