Howard Huel Logan

Sylacauga, AL - Howard Huel Logan, age 88, passed away at home on July 16, 2010 following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m.  with Rev. Tim Childers officiating.  Visitation will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral Home from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Howard was born on July 24, 1921 in Marion County, Alabama.  He served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Wyoming during WWII.  He was one of the first to help start up Kimberly Clark Paper Mill at Coosa Pines in 1949.  He retired as Mill Maintenance Superintendent with 37 years of service.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, the Keystone Bible Class, and Carpenters for Christ.

Mr. Logan is survived by his wife Betty Chatham Logan of Sylacauga; two daughters, Glenda Hill of Sylacauga and Victoria Walters and husband Kyle of Hoover; one son, Danny Logan and wife Janet of Wilsonville; two granddaughters, Amanda Logan of Auburn and Emily Logan of Auburn; one brother, J.D. Logan of Haleyville.

The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful care, especially nurse Karen and aide Jennifer and his two caring sitters, Helen and Diane.

Serving as pallbearers are Bill James, Roy Chatham, Donald Chatham, Wayne McPherson, Johnny McPherson and Redos Lauderdale.

Betty and Family,

We were so sorry to hear about Howard's passing. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. David has fond memories of the work trip the group made to your house to help Howard and the fun they had while working.
