Clyde Darrel Perkins
Sylacauga, AL-Clyde Darrel Perkins, 92, passed away July 29, 2017 at his residence. Clyde is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Moore Perkins; son, Edgar Daniel Perkins (Kitty); daughter, Sherrel Jane Craft (Frank); daughter, Katie Marie Pollard (Jerry); 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Franklin Perkins and Cora Lee Hosmer Perkins; brother, Kimbrough Perkins; brother, Richard Franklin Perkins; brother, Lewis Perkins; and grandson, David Talbot Kirkwood.
Clyde was born in Clay, Alabama. He served in the Navy from 1943-1945. He worked with the postal service for 35 years. He had great joy in helping Betty with her catering. Pawpaw (Clyde) was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Clyde enjoyed gardening and was a Master Gardener. He has a special love for nature and art. He enjoyed painting for many years.
The family will have a private memorial from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and will receive friends and view many of Clyde's artwork on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Sylacauga Comer Museum and Arts Center.
In lieu of flower, donations may be made to the Sylacauga B.B. Comer Memorial Library or to the Comer Museum and Arts Center.
