Thomas Leroy Sizemore

Thomas Leroy Sizemore, 72, of Childersburg (Lay Lake), passed away on August 7, 2018, after a battle with Alzheimer's.

Leroy was born November 8, 1945 in Birmingham, graduated Hemphill Elementary and West End High Schools, and attended UAB. He earned the God and Country Award in the Eagle Scouts. He served in the Alabama Air National Guard. His career spanned 31 plus years at BellSouth. He loved watching Alabama Crimson Tide football with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing on Lay Lake, in Tellico, TN, and Alaska with friends and family. He had 3 precious dogs who were by his side during his battle, Pippin, Sugar, and B2.

Mr. Sizemore grew up in West End Baptist Church, was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for thirty five years and was currently a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church in Sylacauga.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Pearce Sizemore; daughters, Kristy S. Dunlap (Rick) and Kelli S. Cook; fifteen grandchildren; sister, Paula S. Sorrow; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leroy was called "Papa" by his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, J. Paul Sizemore (Jen Lenze and Jennifer S. Endacott); and parents, J.P. and Delma Sizemore.

A special thank you to Pat Mathews and other family, Butch and Beverly Lippincott and family, and Kindred Hospice care for their wonderful help during this tough time.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fayetteville United Methodist Church (5441 Old Fayetteville Road, Sylacauga, AL 35151). Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Fayetteville United Methodist Church. Burial will be 2:00 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
