Wendell Louis Hickman
Wendell Louis Hickman, 53, of Alpine, AL, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018.
He has served our community in the Funeral home industry for more than thirty years. He served some 12 years at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Wendell provided comfort and support to those in need unlike any other could. His empathy and compassion for people during their time of need was unfailing. In addition, he also volunteered his time for more than 15 years as a reserve officer for the Sylacauga Police Department. When he wasn't carrying out the duties of one of these places, you could find him either spending time with family and friends, or on the lake fishing. To know him, was to love him, Wendell will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Hickman and brother-in-law, Billy Osbourn.
He is survived by his mother, Marie Hickman; brother, Harold Hickman (Shannon), nephews, Brandon and Blaine; Sister, Sheila Osbourn White (John), nephew Bryan (Kelley), and great-nephews, Byran and Isaac; niece, Brooke (Anthony) Jacks, great-nephews, Jasper and Jameson, and great-niece, Georgia.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at First Assembly of God in Oak Grove with Rev. Mike Frost and Rev. Larry McConatha officiating. Graveside services will follow at Tallasahatchie Cemetery in Alpine.
Pallbearers will be Jason McNeill, Tracey Steele, Matt Abrams, Tim Vincent, Kevin Kite, and Donnie Landers. Honorary pallbearers will be Walt Smelley, Dan Burell, and the members of the Sylacauga Police and Talladega County Sheriff's Department.
